5TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE RA MINISTRY OF DIASPORA: “A “sea” of expectations”
The RA Ministry of Diaspora is marking its fifth anniversary, and the events dedicated to the anniversary have already been launched in Yerevan. We cordially congratulate the ministry on its anniversary and appreciate the establishment and activities of an organization that we rely on with great expectations.
The ministry has only been around for five years, but it has already drawn the attention of numerous Armenians in the Diaspora. It’s safe to say that the ministry has reached the milestone under the leadership of its minister, Mrs. Hranush Hakobyan. The ministry has organized several forums, visits, meetings and conferences, and the it should be highly respected for having organized numerous events.
On the one hand, we are aware of the fact that the ministry, as a state structure, is obliged to develop and plan its programs and events within the limits of the government and with government funding that surely can’t meet the needs of the vast Armenian Diaspora due to the difficulties, complexities, prejudice and pretentions.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Diaspora itself should make us Diaspora Armenians more zealous and more committed to that organization. It should view us not as outsiders or listeners, but should receive us with open arms, engage us in the programs, make us take responsibility and help expand the limits of activities by including everything that is necessary for the Diaspora and making the programs more goal-oriented and extensive.
