Participant of “Armenia. Create Together” youth forum: “I have been interested in architecture since childhood”
Rita Deyek and her family moved to Armenia a year ago due to the Syrian crisis. After graduating from school, Deyek studied at Aleppo State University for two years, but left her studies behind due to the war that broke out in Syria.
Settling in the Mother Homeland, Rita has decided to continue her studies in the Department of Architecture at the National Polytechnic University of Armenia.
“I love innovations. I have been interested in architecture since childhood. When we were living in Aleppo, I would always follow the construction of buildings. I remember how I would pass by the street, see construction and closely follow the process,” Rita said as she shared her memories in an interview with Hayern Aysor, adding that ancient Armenian architecture had a great impact on her choice of profession. The building of the National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet after Alexander Spendiaryan is especially close to Rita’s heart and gives her energy.
Rita is very happy to see how Yerevan is becoming more and more modern and beautiful thanks to the construction of different structures.
To enrich her knowledge, she is currently conducting her internship at one of the architecture offices in Yerevan through a program of the Armenian General Benevolent Union.
Rita also believes her participation in the first “Armenia. Create Together” youth forum (organized by the RA Ministry of Diaspora, in association with the Armenian General Benevolent Union, Luys Foundation and Ayb Foundation) will highly contribute to her professional advancement.
By participating in such a forum for the first time, Rita wishes to gain as much experience as she can so that she can become a successful architect.
