Telemedicine atelier of “Armenia. Create Together” youth forum holds meeting at Vardanants Medical Center

On July 11, within the scope of the “Armenia. Create Together” youth forum for the students and alumni of top foreign universities, at the initiative of the RA Ministry of Diaspora, in association with the Armenian General Benevolent Union, the Luys and Ayb Foundations, young students and professionals of different countries participated in the meeting of the “Medicine and Healthcare” Telemedicine atelier (established under the auspices of Luys Foundation) at Vardanants Medical Center.

Doctor of the Center for Plastic Rehabilitative Surgery and Microsurgery of Clinical Hospital N 1 of Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi, candidate of medical sciences, plastic surgeon Gevorg Yaghjyan delivered his opening remarks at the event. Introducing himself to the participants, Mr. Yaghjyan presented the program of events for 11-14 July and talked about the establishment of contacts between the medical laboratory and the clinics in Gargar and Stepanakert.

The problems with the reforms being carried out for gathering data, exchanging information, care, nutrition and physical health, as well as the issues on raising the level of awareness were discussed during the meeting.

“I will be one of the directors of the telemedicine program and the “Gargar” medical program. We will try to create a program and will use the results in our future activities as much as possible,” microsurgeon Gevorg Yaghjyan said.

Educational Programs Director of Luys Foundation Jacklyn Karaaslanian also talked to the youth, mentioning that the Foundation supports students who are pursuing their studies at the 10 top universities of the world and will visit Armenia every summer to invest their knowledge in the field of medicine. Afterwards, the participants decided to create a group of professionals that will leave for Gargar. The students will examine and register the problems of the patients in Gargar, try to give diagnoses and compare the diagnoses with the diagnoses of Vardanants Medical Center. The students who would stay in Yerevan were also selected. During the meeting, the directors also answered questions from the participants. The Telemedicine atelier will continue its activities at Vardanants Medical Center to discuss issues on expanding the scope of medicine, discussing the pilot programs being carrying out in Gargar and Stepanakert, as well as the materials required for providing medical assistance, software programs and websites.
