Henri Verneuil’s son receives Boghos Nubar Medal of the RA Ministry of Diaspora
On June 28, RA Deputy Minister of Diaspora Serzh Srapionyan attended the dance performance entitled “Eternity” at the Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet. The performance is choreographed by Patrick Malakian, son of famous French-Armenian filmmaker Henri Verneuil, and artistic director of Narek Dance School Arman Julhakyan within the scope of the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
In the beginning, Deputy Minister Serzh Srapionyan transmitted the welcoming remarks and congratulatory message of RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan. The welcoming remarks and congratulatory message particularly read as follows: “Patrick Malakian is known not only as the son of great Armenian artist Henri Verneuil, but also as an Armenian who is devoted to his country and people. As the chairman of the Marseille affiliate of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU), he has always supported the preservation of the Armenian identity and the dissemination of Armenian arts and culture abroad. It was through his efforts that a stamp and postmark with the image of the Forget-Me-Not flower were printed within the framework of the events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide with the slogan “I Remember and Demand” in France. On one occasion, Patrick Malakian said he deeply respected people who have managed to preserve and protect their Armenian identity.”
By the order of the RA Minister of Diaspora, RA Deputy Minister of Diaspora Serzh Srapionyan awarded Patrick Malakian with the Boghos Nubar Medal for strengthening the active relations between Armenia and the Diaspora, solving cultural issues and making great contributions to the development of the Armenia-Diaspora partnership.
A certificate of the RA Ministry of Diaspora was granted to artistic director of Narek Dance School Arman Julhakyan for preserving and disseminating Armenian culture abroad.
Afterwards, the attendees watched the performance, which is about the history, difficulties and the victories of the Armenian people.
