His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos received Primate of the Aleppo Diocese, Archbishop Shahan Sarkisian and Syrian-Armenian Member of Parliament Zhirayr Reyisian. As reported the press divan of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia, during the meeting, Catholicos Aram I highly appreciated Archbishop Shahan Sarkisian’s service to the Armenian people, taking into consideration the current difficult situation in Syria.

An Armenian clergyman, who is called for serving the Armenian Church and people, needs to carry out his mission with faith and devotion, especially in the current difficult situation. The Armenians of Antelias are aware of this when they become clergymen. I am pleased with the fact that our spiritual fathers stand by the side of His Holiness and serve our people in all parts of Syria with the same zeal,” Catholicos Aram I said.

Catholicos Aram I discussed with His Holiness and Zhirayr Reyisian the current state of Syria and especially the Armenians of Syria. The Supreme Patriarch emphasized once again the imperative to support the Armenians of Syria and viewed this as the priority of the Armenian nation.
