Artsakh President meets with Mayor of Mechelen and several officials

On June 10, President of the Artsakh Republic Bako Sahakyan visited the Belgian city of Mechelen.

The President met with Mayor Bart Zomers, Deputy Mayor Mark Hendrix and several state officials, as reported the press service of the President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, according to Hayern Aysor.

Issues related to the partnership between Mechelen and Artsakh were discussed during the meeting.

President Sahakyan stated that the establishment and development of relations between the cities and regions of Artsakh and different countries are one of the pivotal directions of the bilateral cooperation, especially in the spheres of economy, culture, science, education and humanitarianism.

In honor of the President, the Municipality of Mechelen hosted an official reception, which was attended by representatives of several local Armenian organizations.

On the same day, the President visited the Armenian cross-stone commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide in Mechelen and laid a wreath. Bako Sahakyan attached importance to the presence of such monuments in different countries and noted the role that they play in achieving international recognition of the Armenian Genocide and eternalizing the memory of the innocent victims.
