Junior sergeant Robert Abajyan posthumously awarded with Hero of Artsakh title
On the occasion of Victory Day, the day of the formation of the Defense Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and the day of the liberation of Shushi, President Bako Sahakyan has signed a number of decrees on granting awards, as reported the Central Information Department o the Staff of the Artsakh Republic President.
Junior sergeant of the Defense Army Robert Abajyan has been posthumously awarded with the title of Hero of Artsakh (the highest title of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic) and the Golden Eagle Order for the exceptional courage and bravery that he showed while defending the state border of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic during the large-scale military operations unleashed by the adversary on 2-5 April 2016.
One person has been awarded with the 2nd degree Cross of Combat Order, 44 people have been awarded with the Medal for Courage Medal (4 of which have been awarded posthumously) and 241 people have been awarded with the Combat Service Medal (11 of which have been awarded posthumously) for the courage and bravery that they had shown while defending the state border of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and in the battles for the defense of the Homeland.
Sixteen people have been awarded with the Medal for the Liberation of Shushi (2 of which were awarded posthumously) for the courage that they had shown in the battles for the liberation of the city of Shushi.
One freedom fighter has been awarded with the Medal of Gratitude for his services provided to the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
