Carcaixent becomes 15th Spanish city to recognize the Armenian Genocide

On April 27, during the session held by the council of the Spanish city of Carcaixent, all the five political parties, including Compromis, the People’s Party (Partido Popular), Gent de Carcaixent, Reiniciem and the Socialist Party, unanimously adopted the resolution on recognition of the Armenian Genocide that had been submitted by the local Armenian community, as reported Ararat Armenian Association of Spain to Hayern Aysor.
Two days ago, Turkey’s Consul General in Spain called the mayor and tried to intervene and disturb the process of recognition, but according to Mayor Francisco Salom, Carcaixent had made a firm decision and wasn’t going to change it.
Among those attending the session were representatives of the Armenian communities of Carcaixent, Valencia and Mislata, who expressed their words of gratitude to the members of the city council.
