Events dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide held in Belgium

On April 24, events dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide were held in Brussels and several other Belgian cities, as reported the press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Hundreds of members of the Armenian community of Belgium, leaders of community organizations and diplomatic missions of the Republic of Armenia attended a ceremony commemorating the holy martyrs of the Armenian Genocide at Saint Mary of Magdalena Armenian Church in Brussels.
After the ceremony, the participants of the event marched towards the Henry Misho Square of Brussels where there is a cross-stone placed in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. Belgian parliamentarians and government officials, the heads of local regimes, as well as representatives of organizations representing the national minorities of Belgium took part in a commemorative event and laid wreaths.
Armenia’s Ambassador to Belgium Tatul Margaryan gave a speech at the event. Commemorating the holy martyrs of the Armenian Genocide, the Ambassador particularly stated that we recently witnessed the large-scale military aggression that Azerbaijan unleashed against Artsakh and that Turkey’s overt support and encouragement didn’t come as a surprise. The Ambassador emphasized that “this requires even more consolidation to resist Turkey’s pointless and persistent denial and ongoing genocidal actions and to put an end to Azerbaijan’s aggression backed by denial and those actions once and for all.
Ambassador Margaryan also praised and attached importance to the consolidation of the Armenian community of Belgium around the Homeland in the future.
