Armenian Genocide survivors of Argentina receive certificates
On April 22, Armenian Genocide survivors residing in Argentina were granted certificates by the Legislature of Buenos Aires during a ceremony held as part of the events commemorating the Armenian Genocide. This is what spiritual pastor of the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church of Buenos Aires, Father Archimandrite Maghakia Amirian told Hayern Aysor.
Among the attendees were Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Argentina, Father Archbishop Kisag Mouradian; Secretary for Human Rights and Cultural Pluralism of Argentina Claudio Avruj; Vice-President of the Legislature of Buenos Aires Carmen Pozhedo; First Vice-President for Human Rights and Cultural Pluralism of Buenos Aires Pamela Malevich; Chairman of the Armenian Center and the Armenian Diocese of Argentina Alberto Jerejian, as well as members of various community institutions and other guests.
In their speeches, the keynote speakers touched upon the major role and significance of the Armenian people and the Armenian community of Argentina, attached importance to the event and stated that it somehow consoles all the survivors of the Armenian Genocide who found peace in Argentina decades ago.
At the end, certificates were granted to about 20 Argentine-Armenians who had survived the Armenian Genocide.
