Cellist Armen Antonyan gives charity concert in Kiev

Famous Spanish-Armenian cellist Armen Antonyan successfully gave a charity concert in Kiev. Twenty five years ago, the young musician, who was born in Gyumri and graduated from Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory, was appreciated by Alexander Vaynrot, who went on to give him his cello as inheritance. Proceeds from the concert held at Ivan Franco Theater of Kiev will go to a military hospital. After his unmatched performance of Komitas’s “Krunk”, Antonyan also performed the works of famous composers, including Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Sen-Sans, Villa-Lobos, Falla, Piazzolla and others.

Each of his performances was followed by warm rounds of applause. The listeners were charmed, and we Armenians were even more charmed when the great musician expressed his greetings and later his closing speech in Armenian and Ukrainian. One could even hear his heartbeat in that cordial atmosphere. We hope the Armenian cellist pleases music lovers with his performances for many years to come.
