RA Minister of Diaspora receives Vice-President of the Armenian community of Sochi

On April 14, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received Vice-President of the Armenian community of Sochi for Foreign Affairs Marcos Kosyan. RA Deputy Minister of Diaspora Serzh Srapionyan was also attending the meeting.

The vice-president of the community talked about the efforts that the community is making to support Artsakh. On April 9, responding to the calls of the Government of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia to help Artsakh, the Armenian businessmen of Sochi participated in the extraordinary session of the Union of Armenians of Russia in the Sochi region. During the session, the members of the community discussed issues related to the organizing of assistance to Artsakh and to the people of Artsakh and suggested organizing a fundraiser, and at this moment, the community has raised the equivalent of $150,000 dollars in Russian rubles.

Marcos Kosyan stated that the main purpose of his visit to the Ministry of Diaspora was to consult with Hranush Hakobyan about how the funds need to be used.

RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan expressed gratitude to the Armenian community of Sochi for responding to the call to support Artsakh and attached importance to the willingness that different Armenian communities of the Diaspora have expressed to help the homeland. Minister Hranush Hakobyan also stressed the unity of Armenians in Armenia and abroad.

After the discussion, it was decided to use the funds to obtain 15 УАЗ ambulance trucks that are necessary for the villages of Artsakh.

At the end of the meeting, Marcos Kosyan expressed the solidarity of all the members of the Armenian community of Sochi to Artsakh and to the Armenian Army and the members’ willingness to always support Artsakh and the army.
