The year 2016 is an important year for the Armenian church and community in Ireland
The year 2016 will be a significant year for the Armenian church and the Armenian community in Ireland since the Armenians of Ireland participated in the Saint Patrick’s Day ceremony at the Saint Patrick Cathedral of Dublin for the first time in the history of Ireland, reports the Armenian community of Ireland, according to Hayern Aysor.
The ceremony was held to the sounds of Irish music. Stories of Saint Patrick were read during the ceremony. Among the attendees were Archbishop of Dublin Michael Geoffrey Jackson, Bishop Raymond Field, representatives of different churches, as well as members of the parish council of Dublin and representatives of the local Armenian community. Father Boghos Manuk also talked about Saint Patrick and compared the Celtic crosses with Armenian khachkars (cross-stones). At the end of the festive and interesting event, the attendees were given fresh shamrocks.
