Artur Janibekyan’s foundation has purchased William Saroyan’s house in Fresno

William Saroyan, one of the giants of 20th century American literature, lived and worked in the house located at 2729 Griffith Way, which is located west from Gooper Middle School. Today, the great writer’s house is empty and deserted, with wooden windows, walls and a floor that are in need of big renovation due to lack of care, etc.

Being deeply aware of the universal importance of Saroyan’s legacy, taking into consideration the poor condition of the house and with the purpose of saving it from demolition, in 2015, the house was purchased by Artur Janibekyan’s Intellectual Renaissance Foundation, which has boosted the development of Wikipedia and has helped increase the potential of Armenian intellectuals to the international level over the past two years.

According to the Foundation’s press release, the house will be renovated to become a home-museum that will serve as a cultural center not only for all Armenians of the world, but also the whole world. The home-museum will host literary events, festivals and other cultural events.

The Intellectual Renaissance Foundation is developing and will soon present the plan for renovation of the home-museum and the action plan. The Foundation recommends that everyone submit their ideas by sending a letter to info@saroyanmuseum.com.

“We will be very glad to discuss all proposals,” the Foundation’s press release reads.

Let us remind that William Saroyan’s house in Fresno was put up for sale on May 4, 2015.
