Businessman Levon Hayrapetyan denied involvement in the theft of 700 thousand dollars from the mother of former senator Igor V. Izmestiev, RIA Novosti reported from the hall Zamoskvoreche District Court in Moscow, as “Armenpress” informs.

“I did not commit a crime, I am not guilty,” – the defendant said after the prosecutor read out the indictment. According to investigators, the entrepreneurs mislead the woman, promising for a large sum to get her son a light sentence. In fact, Hayrapetyan did not have a possibility to influence the judgment. Hayrapetyan faces up to 10 years imprisonment over the case of embezzlement of 700 thousand dollars.

According to the investigation data, Hayrapetyan has dual citizenship and property abroad, in particular in recent years he lived in Monaco. In early October, the businessman was transferred to house arrest. Hayrapetyan’s lawyer said earlier that his client’s health has deteriorated, and requested his release. Levon Hayrapetyan was arrested in 2014 after the former senator from Bashkortostan Igor Izmestiev’s testimony who was sentenced to life imprisonment for serious crimes.
