Piruz Mnatsakanyan becomes first female Armenian candidate of sciences of 651-year-old university

On November 26, diplomas were conferred upon graduates of the PhD Division of the Department of History of Jagiellonian University of Krakow during a ceremony held at the Collegium Novum Hall in the main building of the University, reports armacad.info, according to Hayern Aysor.

Among the 21 graduates was scientific worker of the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts (Matenadaran) and employee of the Division for Research on Sources of the Middle Age Piruz Mnatsakanyan, who is the first female Armenian to receive the diploma in the history of the Jagiellonian University, which is one of the oldest universities in Eastern Europe and marked its 651st anniversary this year.

The topic of Piruz Mnatsakanyan’s dissertation is devoted to Armenian literature in Poland, and her academic supervisor is Professor Krzysztof Stopka.
