New details have been revealed in the investigation into the participation of state officers in the murder of founding Istanbul-Armenian journalist and editor-in-chief of Agos Weekly Hrant Dink. CnnTürk reports that on the day of the murder, Ogyun Samast had made three telephone calls from phone booths that had been moved after the murder. In 2011, Head of the Intelligence Division of the General Department of Police Ramazan Akyurek had deleted the records of phone calls. As a result, the records of phone calls made in 2007 were lost, writes ermenihaber.am.
The investigation has shown that a military official of the Department of Investigation of the Gendarmerie of the State of Trabizon had had long phone conversations with a police officer with one of the organizers of Dink’s murder, Erhan Tuncel five times between 08:10 and 14:20 on the day of the murder. Right after the murder, the same official had had telephone conversations with five officers of the gendarmerie of the State of Istanbul.
The examination of the phone calls and video recordings clearly shows that six police officers had followed Samast on the day of the murder. They had been at the scene of the crime before and after the murder and had been secretly following Samast. It is clear that one of the police officers is a subaltern of the gendarmerie of the State of Istanbul.
