“It is a great honor and responsibility to represent Armenia”

On November 9, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received Mikayel Varosyan, who will be representing Armenia at the prestigious Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year.

The contest is set to take place in Sofia, Bulgaria on November 21. Mikayel Varosyan will perform the song “LOVE”, with lyrics by Lilit Navasardyan and lyrics by Avet Barseghyan. “Visiting the Ministry of Diaspora and meeting with Minister Hranush Hakobyan has turned into a nice tradition. Our meetings convey a lot of energy,” head of the Armenian Delegation to Eurovision Gohar Gasparyan said.

Gohar Gasparyan went on to introduce Mikayel Varosyan and mentioned the following: “Mikayel attends Nayiri Zoryan Primary School N 130. He is in the seventh grade. Since 2012, he has participated in all the stages of the song contest in Armenia, but didn’t score enough points to make his dream come true. By the decision of the creative group of Armenian Public Television, he will be representing Armenia at the song contest this year. Mikayel, 12, took his first steps in the field of music at the age of 6. He has participated in many international competitions, including in the selective stage for the 2012 “New Wave” Contest and the Golden Sparkles international children’s competition-festival held in the Bulgarian city of Varna where he received three prizes. In 2014, he participated in the “Slavyanski Bazar” international competition in Vitebsk and won 3rd place. Mikayel has also starred in Armen Ronov’s film, has dubbed and reproduced several films and animated films and hosts the “Puzzle” children’s television program.”

Greeting the guest, the minister expressed her joy for the fact that Mikayel was going to be representing Armenia at Junior Eurovision since she had seen his performance during the concert dedicated to Armenia’s Independence Day and is charmed by his voice, posture and artistic performance.

“It is a great honor and responsibility to represent Armenia,” the minister said, adding: “It is especially a great honor and responsibility in the year marking the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. It is the duty of us Armenians to achieve victories, and you must only think about winning first place. Always remember that the whole nation supports you and wants to see you win.”

In the end, Hranush Hakobyan gave Mikayel Varosyan symbolic gifts and wished that he improve his knowledge and abilities every day and every hour so that he has more opportunities to represent Armenia in the future.
