Valerie Buaye: Erdogan didn’t blame ISIL during meeting in Strasbourg

Deputy of the French National Assembly Valerie Buaye has addressed an inquiry to French Minister of Foreign Affairs Loran Fabius. According to News.am, Buaye has posted the text of the inquiry on her Facebook page.

On October 4, French deputies suggested that President of Turkey Recep Tayyib Erdogan meet with 15,000 people for ethnic and religious motives. The meeting, according to Buaye, was held in Strasbourg, the capital of human rights. With the title “Millions of Voices against Terrorism”, the meeting brought together citizens of France, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland.

“On the occasion of the meeting, during which men and women sat in different corners of the hall, Erdogan called on the Turks living in European countries to preserve their culture and resist assimilation. President Erdogan’s two-hour speech was full of calls for Islamism and nationalism. Erdogan also reminded the gathered about terrorism, but didn’t blame ISIL.

The inheritors of refugees of 1915 currently living in France are compelled to tolerate the arrival of Turkish nationalists from Europe on the background of common indifference.

Turkey still hasn’t recognized the Armenian Genocide in the year marking the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. I would like to know how such a meeting could be held in our country. I would like to know the Government’s stance on French-Turkish relations,” the statement reads.
