Hranush Hakobyan: “We need to use our entire potential”

“We need to use our entire potential. Armenian activists and organizations of the Diaspora need to be able to coerce pressure on the authorities of their countries of residence so that they have their say and intervene in everything that Aliyev is trying to do,” Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan said in an interview with Panorama.am.

Hakobyan reminded that from 15 to 20 September 2014, representatives of the Armenian organizations of various countries gathered and set priorities, one of which was the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. “This is an issue that concerns not only Armenians, but the entire Armenian nation as well. We have an agreement, according to which we address our Diaspora Armenian organizations in many cases when we see tension on the border, and those organizations try to engage the authorities of their countries of residence in the process by pressuring them and holding demonstrations.”

According to Hakobyan, Azerbaijan is creating tension on the border in an attempt to cause harm to Armenia’s tourism and economy and intimidate the residents of bordering regions in this period of harvest.

“Aliyev is constantly trying to find ways to cause harm to our Republic. We give the adequate response, our army is in its place, and the spirit and potential of the army is such that we never have to think that our army can cede and not give a counterattack,” the minister said.

Hranush Hakobyan mentioned that, unlike Azerbaijan, Armenia is fulfilling its commitments “with the desire to achieve a resolution of the conflict within the scope of the Minsk Group, not via the path that Aliyev is taking.”
