Wednesday, September 23, will see the opening of a new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) unit at Yerevan’s #1 «Heratsi» Hospital. The official opening ceremony to be attended by RA Health Minister Armen Muradyan, RA Education Minister Armen Ashotyan, President of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) Berge Setrakian and Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) Rector Mikayel Narimanyan will take place at the hospital’s “AGBU-YSMU Levon and Claudia Nazarian Radiology Center”.

Brivo MR 355 by famous General Electric Company is a gift by US-based national benefactor, Member of the AGBU Board of Trustees Nazar Nazarian, his wife Artemis Nazarian and their son Levon Nazarian, prominent radiologist, Professor and Vice Chairman of the Department of Radiology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, and AGBU Central Board Member. The total price of the donated medical equipment is 1.4 mln USD and it will enable the Center to carry out medical examinations that are new to Armenia.

Prior to the opening ceremony AGBU President Berge Setrakian and YSMU Rector Mikayel Narimanyan will sign an agreement of cooperation between AGBU and YSMU.

This is another addition to the long list of philanthropic activities of the Nazarian family in Armenia. Back in 2010, Nazar and Artemis Nazarian donated 1.7 mln USD for the establishment of AGBU-YSMU Levon and Claudia Nazarian Radiology Center at #1 “Heratsi” Hospital.
