Vatican releases stamps with Armenian saints’ pictures on

The Governorate of Vatican city-state has issued two stamps in 2015 with St. Gregory of Narek and Blessed Ignatius Maloyan’s pictures on, reports Armenianchurchco.com.

The zenith.org news agency (the official news agency of the Catholic Church) noted that the Blessed Ignatius Maloyan was born in Mardin, Turkey, and died a martyr a hundred years ago. The Young Turks offered to spare his life if he would convert to Islam. He did not accept any compromise and preferred to die for the sake of his Savior.

As for St. Gregory of Narek, the agency mentioned that Pope Francis had bestowed one of the highest church honors on St. Gregory of Narek which is ?Doctor of the Church’.

St. Gregory of Narek is known for his ?Book of Lamentations’ which is translated into multiple languages.
