NKR PM receives alumni of Melkonian School

On August 9, Prime Minister of the Artsakh Republic Arayik Harutyunyan received alumni of the Melkonian School of different years. They are on a cognitive visit to Artsakh with the support of Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, reports the Department of Information and Public Relations of the NKR Government.
Greeting the guests, Arayik Harutyunyan expressed joy for the fact that they were spending their summer vacation in the homeland and mentioned that Artsakh always receives Armenians and all goodwill visitors with open arms. Presenting the social, economic and educational projects being carried out in Artsakh through funding from Armenian philanthropists and the role of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund in Artsakh’s development, the Prime Minister emphasized that the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund serves as one of the best channels to help engage Armenians in the social and economic projects being carried out in Artsakh.
“The Fund especially plays a significant role in the fields of education and road construction. The school construction project co-funded by the government and the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund is drawing to an end, and the construction of the Martakert-Vardenis highway is a strategic project that will end in a couple of months. With funding from the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, the government will soon launch a project that will help provide homes to families with five children,” the Prime Minister said.
The head of government said he regretted the closure of Armenian schools in Armenian communities of the Diaspora, particularly the Melkonian School and emphasized the negative impact that the closure of Armenian schools has on preservation of the Armenian identity, as well as the Armenian and universal education of the young generation.
Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister for the meeting held in a cordial and direct atmosphere, the guests expressed willingness to continue to support the implementation of pro-national projects.
At the end, Arayik Harutyunyan answered questions from the gathered, touched upon the major directions for the republic’s economic development and emphasized that any investment in the homeland is eternal.
