Prime Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu has announced that Turkey is planning on taking additional security measures on the border with Syria. Davutoglu’s statement comes after the explosion that took place in Suruc city yesterday, killing 30 people, reports BBC, according to Panorama.
“Turkey has taken and will continue to take all necessary measures against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. We’re face-to-face with terrorism. We have the will to find and punish the culprits,” Davutoglu said, adding that Turkey will reinforce security measures on the border with Syria.
After the terrorist act, citizens of Istanbul started holding anti-government protests, but were dispersed by the police with the help of tear gas and water cannons. The protesters blamed the country’s authorities for supporting the terrorist act and referred to the members of the ruling Justice and Development Party as accomplices to ISIL.
The July 20 terrorist act at Amara Cultural Center of Turkey’s Suruc city took the lives of 30 people. The terrorist act was committed by an 18-year-old female insurgent, who was a member of ISIL. There were nearly 30 young members of Socialist Youth Associations living in central Suruc and were helping recover the Syrian city of Kobane as part of a summer campaign.
