2015 “Ari Tun” Program: Flora Karapetyan: “I visit Armenia every year. It seems as though the land is calling me”
I was born and raised in Lyon, France. I go to a French college, but I do everything I can to never forget Armenian. My parents speak Armenian at home, and I ask the people around me to speak to me only in Armenian.
There are many Armenians in Lyon, and that’s why there are more hours for Armenian language lessons at our college. My friends and I like to attend the courses.
I love Armenian folk dances. I’ve been learning Armenian dances for seven years now. It helps me be in an Armenian environment.
I visit Armenia every year. It seems as though my land is calling me. My parents don’t miss any opportunity for us to spend our summer vacation in the Homeland. Every time I go sightseeing, I rediscover my country, and that motivates me to visit the Homeland again and again.
I always ask myself if France or Armenia is closer to my heart, and I always have trouble finding the answer to that question since I love both countries.
My mother got interested in the “Ari Tun” Program and suggested that I participate in the “Ari Tun” Program.
My mother wanted me to receive as much information about Armenia as possible through this program.
I loved the “Ari Tun” Program. Everyone treats us well. The participants and I understand each other and don’t have any conflicts. I’m participating in the program so that I can fully discover Armenia, as well as learn about Armenian culture and the national traditions.
I thank the RA Ministry of Diaspora for providing me with the opportunity to spend unforgettable days in Armenia this summer.
