Georgia declares Day of Mourning after flood in Tbilisi

Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has declared June 15th as a Day of Mourning in memory of those who died during the floods in Tbilisi.
“Unfortunately, there are victims. It is a great tragedy. I would like to express my condolences to the families and friends of the victims. The Georgian government has already issued a order to declare June 15th as a Day of Mourning,” Garibashvili said, reports Interfax.
According to Gruzia Online, the flood in Tbilisi took place on Saturday night after an unprecedented downpour. Based on the latest information, the flood took the lives of 12 people (11 of them have been identified). Overall, there were 266 victims, of which 37 are in hospitals and 3 are in extremely critical condition. The flood damaged roads and infrastructures, as well as the city zoo. As a result, most of the animals have escaped the zoo.
