Colors of Armenian national flag illuminated the Home-Museum of Independence in Tucuman, Argentina

Argentina’s Casa de Tucuman (translated to House of Tucuman), which is also a museum, was recently flooded with the colors of the Armenian national flag symbolizing the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. The Casa de Tucuman is considered a national historical and cultural monument in Argentina since it was here where the Declaration of Independence of Argentina was signed on July 9, 1816. The artistic display was part of the event that included poetry and musical performances and organized through the combined efforts of the historic Home-Museum of Independence, the National Institute against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism and the Armenian National Committee of Argentina. “Genocide is the extreme type of discrimination, and public awareness is very important in order to prevent future crimes against humanity,” coordinator of the National Institute against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism Guillermo Ferayioli mentioned in his speech.

The Madres de Plaza de Mayo organization also joined the event by sending a letter signed Sara Mrad and emphasizing the following: “We must stand by the Armenians during this major event.”
