In 1915, a young Armenian doctor provides the daughter of a wealthy and influential Turkish man with medical treatment in Changiri. With a feeling of gratitude, the Turkish girl persuades the Armenian doctor to convert to Islam and save his life. The doctor refuses without thinking twice, saying conversion means treason.

That young man was Ruben Sevak, who was a doctor by profession and a famous Western Armenian writer.
