Ara Karapetyan to head Stanislavsky Musical Theater of Moscow
Ara Karapetyan will become the new general director of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theater of Moscow. This is what former director of the theater Vladimir Urin announced, as reported by Lenta. Urin has been appointed Director of the Big State Academic Theater and will be replacing Anatoli Iksanov.
Vladimir Urin has announced that the Big Theater won’t be inviting the actors of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theater, adding that he doesn’t want to destroy the musical theater and would like to work with the staff of the Big Theater.
In 1997, Ara Karapetyan was the group director of Stanislavsky Musical Theater. In 2005, he was Urin’s first deputy director. He has been the head of the group staging rimsky-Kkorsakov’s play Fairy Tale about the Sultan King and Puccini’s Madam Butterfly, as well as the director of the musical called Nord-Ost.
