Glendale City Council has declared April as the Month of Commemoration of the Victims of the Armenian Genocide

Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan had a meeting with member of Glendale City Council, former Mayor of Glendale Eileen Givens. Greeting the guest, Mayor Taron Margaryan expressed gratitude for visiting Yerevan to join the Armenians to respect the memory of the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide on April 24th.

“This year is a special year for all Armenians since it marks the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. We are sincerely grateful to those who are with us today and are paying their tribute to the 1.5 million innocent martyrs,” the mayor emphasized.

Taron Margaryan also expressed gratitude to Glendale City Council its ongoing support and attention to the Armenian community.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Eileen Givens attached special importance to the active efforts of the Armenian community and emphasized that the community has its special and important role in the development of the city of Glendale.

“Armenians make up 80% of the population of 800,000 in the city of Glendale, and I must admit that they play an important role in the development of the city. The Armenian community has organized and is organizing several events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, and they are definitely extremely important. Glendale City Council also adopted the proclamation on declaring April as the Month of Commemoration of the Victims of the Armenian Genocide in 2015 with a high sense of responsibility, which is also a unique way of respecting the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide,” Eileen Givens mentioned.

At the end of the meeting, member of Glendale City Council, former Mayor of Glendale Eileen Givens transmitted the above mentioned proclamation of Glendale City Council to Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan.
