Concert commemorating Armenian intellectuals killed during Armenian Genocide to be organized in Istanbul
On April 22, a concert commemorating Armenian intellectuals arrested and killed by the order of the Young Turks in 1915 will be held with the title “In Memoriam 24 Nisan” in Istanbul, ermenihaber.am reports. The concert will include performances by the Kardesh Turks Ensemble, Ara Dinkjian, Onig Dinkjian, Erkan Ozur, Ertan Tekir, Hasmik Harutiunian, Karine Hovhannisian, Haig Yazdjiian, Shahn Artsruni, Erman Imahian, Elen Khachadourian and others.
Julfu Livaneli’s song “Homage to Gomidas”will be performed for the first time, as posted on Turkey’s oppositional Cumhuriyet website.
In addition to musical performances, there will also be readings of parts of the prose and verses of Western Armenian writers who were arrested and killed during the death marches in 1915. The source reports that the event will be organized by Anadolu Kültür Center and Kalan Müzik Organization.
