A commemorative concert dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial will be held at the famous Gavo Hall of Paris on April 25 at the initiative of well-known French-Armenian opera singer, bass-baritone Adam Barro (Mourad Amirkhanian).
“The concert is called “100 Concerts for Armenia” and will be held as part of the events for the commemoration of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. The program will include performances of the works of Mozart, Verdi, Bellini, as well as Armenian songs such as Komitas’s “Krunk, Usti Kugas” by Fanni Croue and Komitas’s “Garun Ah” by Julia Knekt, who is already dreaming of singing in Armenia as well. World famous violinist Hildegard Fesno will perform Komitas’s “Tsirani Tsar” for the first time ever. Italian pianist David Perron will perform Babajanyan’s “Elegy” for the first time with a universal “connection, stir of emotions in his heart”, as he mentioned during one of the rehearsals,” Adam Barro said in an interview with Hayern Aysor and added: “Talented actress and prose writer Anahit Topchyan will recite poet Paruyr Sevak’s “Unsilenceable Belfry” for the first time in Paris to the sounds of the song “Dle Yaman” performed on the Armenian duduk. The French version of the poem will be presented for the first time by French reciter Frederic d’Vervil.
Remi Pulakis and Adam Barro will perform the Fighter’s Song (Martiki Yerg) as a duet and with the accompaniment of the knar musical instrument played by Iris Torosian for the first time. For the first time, the French audience will hear the song “Mair Araksi Aperov” in French, and Adam Barro will perform Armen Tigranyan’s “David Bek” and Eduard Abrahamyan’s “Ararat” for the first time ever.
The concert will begin with two female singers coming out to the stage with candles in their hands. Babajanyan’s “Vocaliz” will be interpreted, keeping the memory of the innocent victims alive.
“This special concert is dedicated to the memory of each and every victim of the Armenian Genocide, including children, women, the elderly, teachers, poets, monks, villagers, merchants, lawyers, doctors and engineers. Several artists have decided to gather at Gavo Hall to perform famous arias from operas and Armenian songs commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
This special concert will also end with a historic performance. The participating singers will perform the song “With My Homeland” (Hairenikis Het), based on the words of Hovhannes Tumanyan and composed by Alexander Harutyunyan, ending the song with the words “Homeland of Hope, Homeland of the Light” (Huysi Hairenik, Luysi Hairenik),” Adam Barro concluded.
