“This movement is very capacious and is addressed to Armenians of all ages, the poor and the wealthy, as well as Armenians in Armenia, Artsakh and the Armenian Diaspora…Each Armenian must truly ask himself what he is doing for Karabakh. I am glad that the movement is starting to gain momentum.” This is what RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan said in response to Arevelk news agency’s question on the new initiative of the RA Ministry of Diaspora called “What are YOU doing for Karabakh?”
“Armenian children became the main heroes of the movement, and this movement spread interestingly in schools. If children accept patriotism and understand what it means, understand that they must be brought up as patriots with this question, they also call on their parents to show their participation. So, the movement is succeeding,” Hranush Hakobyan said.
What should Armenians do for Karabakh? In response, Hranush Hakobyan said: “By saying “do”, we mean not only material assistance, but also contacts, relations, knowledge and approaches…Each Armenian should do whatever he can to help Karabakh. Karabakh is an economy, Karabakh is a culture, Karabakh is education, knowledge, a border, a concern, and so we need to be able to unite as one and remember that we shouldn’t only unite in times of sorrow and danger. As long as the Karabakh issue remains unsolved, there is always a danger. We always need to stand united.
Talking about the results that have been achieved, the Minister of Diaspora stated the following: “I am glad that the Armenian schools of Lebanon are already raising funds to purchase wheelchairs and appropriate equipment for children with limited abilities. I am glad that Armenian children of Saratov are trying to establish contacts and become friends with those children. I am very glad that Armenians of Argentina, the USA and Europe have started carrying out events and discussions on what they can do for Karabakh. Every organization and individual needs to decide what they want. We are not telling them to give money or provide material assistance. We are telling them to help Karabakh with whatever they can and with whatever they know. Karabakh is our spirit, our remorse, the border of our homeland, and so protecting, maintaining and reinforcing Karabakh is the objective of each and every Armenian. Karabakh is the “25-year-old independent son” of the Armenian nation. All Armenians need to think about the peace and future of that “son”.
