World Council of Churches to participate in events commemorating the Armenian Genocide Centennial
During its 10th Assembly, the World Council of Churches (WCC) decided to show active participation in the events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial. In its statement issued at the Assembly in South Korea, the WCC touched upon the Armenian Genocide and its consequences and planned several events to be held ahead of the Armenian Genocide Centennial. It was particularly mentioned that an international congress devoted to recognition of the Armenian Genocide and reparation will be held in Geneva in the period preceding April 24th, 2015 and will be attended by experts in international law and genocide experts. The WCC also intends to organize a religious ceremony.
The WCC calls on member Churches of the World Council of Churches to commemorate the martyrs of the Armenian Genocide and make efforts for recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
