Delegation of the Armenian Missionary Association of America visits the RA Ministry of Diaspora

On June 2, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received the delegation of the Armenian Missionary Association of America, which was composed of Executive Director Zaven Khanjian, Armenia’s representative Harutyun Nersisyan and Head of the Department of Media and Publications Andranik Mardoyan.

Minister Hranush Hakobyan greeted the guests, appreciated the pro-Armenian activities of the Armenian Missionary Association and mentioned the appreciable activities that have been carried out over the past few years.

During the meeting, the sides touched upon the current issues facing the Armenian people, including the struggle for Artsakh and the issues facing Syrian-Armenians, as well as discussed and indicated the future actions.

Zaven Khanjian expressed gratitude for the reception and stressed that “the Armenian Missionary Association, within the framework of programs for support to Syrian-Armenians and with the motto “Armenia is the only one”, has declared that it supports Syrian-Armenians wishing to visit Armenia.”

Zaven Khanjian was born in Aleppo, grew up under the influence of the Armenian Evangelical Church and was an active member of the Church’s youth group.

After graduating from the college in Aleppo, Khanjian got accepted to the American University in Beirut where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management in 1967. Afterwards, he moved to the Persian Gulf countries where he joined prestigious societies and associations and held the highest positions in business management for 13 consecutive years.

In 1979, the Khanjians moved to California. In 1987, Khanjian founded the Khanjian Real Estate Agency in Glendale after having worked by his profession for a couple of years.

For years, he has served as a member of the Armenian community of Los Angeles and has used his management skills as an employee of Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, the Evangelical Association of North America, the Armenian Evangelical School, the United Armenian Congressional Church, the Haigazian University of Beirut and Americans for Artsakh.

Over the past few years, he has chaired the Syrian-Armenian Relief Fund and has helped the Fund raise up to $1 million dollars.

Khanjian has also helped increase the number of bilingual articles in Armenian and American mass media and is author of three Armenian-language books.
