Davutoglu: “We are ready to share the pain, but we won’t bow our heads”

Turkey’s Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has reflected on the European Parliament’s adoption of the Armenian Genocide Centennial Resolution once again. According to ermenihaber.am, Davutoglu mentioned that the European Parliament is a structure that adopts several resolutions that are insignificant.

In response to a question from NTV’s journalist, the Prime Minister particularly said: “If we remember the 100th anniversaries of other events, we will have many bitter memories. The people or organizations commenting on the events are people and organizations not having any relation to the topic, but are always ready to speculate. The Pope gave his interpretation, and we have given our response.”

Davutoglu advised once again to remember the past of European countries and mentioned that even President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz has mentioned that. The Turkish Prime Minister said if Europe wants to make a contribution to the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations, it shouldn’t take steps “that create an atmosphere of hatred”. Davutoglu blamed Europe for concealing the actions against Islam and the Turks under the veil of the Armenian issue.

“Armenians and Turks have lived together for one thousand years. We haven’t had a ghetto. We are ready for the development of Armenian-Turkish relations. We don’t accept the approach “if it is the pain of the Turks, then let it be forgotten”. We are ready to share the pain, but we won’t bow our heads,” Davutoglu concluded.
