Kim Kardashian was the first to get a lot out of her visit to Armenia: Hranush Hakobyan

Summing up Armenian American TV star Kim Kardashian’s visit to Armenia in an interview with Yerkir.am, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan mentioned that Kim Kardashian was the first to get a lot out of her visit. “Kim Kardashian was the first to get a lot out of her visit to Armenia. She was able to feel what it means to be an Armenian, and the homeland that was abstract became real. She came and saw the homeland, felt the ground beneath her feet and all that is built in the homeland, and I think she will always remember this visit,” the minister said. Hranush Hakobyan stressed the fact that Kardashian had come to Armenia with her husband and daughter. “She came to Armenia with her husband and daughter. She came to the homeland as a mother. She is also world famous. Since she has many fans around the world, they helped constantly spread the word about Armenia. I think her fans reading and hearing everything about Armenia may want to visit the country, meaning this can help foster tourism,” Hranush Hakobyan emphasized. According to the minister, what’s also important is that many famous U.S. and European newspapers covered her visit on those days, meaning they attached some importance to the fact that she was on a visit to her homeland. “And of course, what was important was her visit to the Armenian Genocide Memorial. Perhaps it was the information about her visit to the Armenian Genocide Memorial that showed once again that no matter what, she is an Armenian no matter where she may be and that she shares the same view on the Armenian Genocide,” Hranush Hakobyan said. The Minister of Diaspora also stressed the fact that the Kardashians were even thinking about the clothes they should wear in Armenia. “Another important thing was that the two sisters even thought the same way about clothes. The sisters dressed in red and blue during their visit to Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial. This was symbolic. It’s safe to say that her crew and friends worked brilliantly. They were even able to make episodes of Kim’s husband jumping into the water and her sister crying. They also managed to organize the PR in the right way, but the thing that was the most spiritual and the most interesting was that Kim baptized her daughter at the St. Hakob Armenian Church of Jerusalem. This also showed that she is aware of her national belonging. She is more Armenian than American,” the minister mentioned. Touching upon her interview to The Guardian, Hranush Hakobyan mentioned that the newspaper probably included only a part of what she had said. “I also said that Kim Kardashian helped make Armenia popular and that many media outlets had covered Armenia. Many people might confuse Armenia with other countries, but after Kim Kardashian’s visit, Armenia became more recognized. There might have been people who had asked themselves if we Armenians are Muslim or Christians and didn’t know our history. Visits like Kim Kardashian’s visit can also make Armenia become more recognized,” the minister said.
