Exhibition “1915: The Golgotha of Armenian Women” opens in Marseilles

An exhibition called “1915: The Golgotha of Armenian Women” is being held at the Chateau de Labuzine Castle of Marseilles from March 31 to April 12. The event is organized by the Blue Cross Organization of French-Armenians with the support of the councils of the 11th and 12th Districts of Marseilles, writes news.am, citing labuzine.com.

The goal of the exhibition “1915: The Golgotha of Armenian Women” is to show what the reality was like for women, brave mothers, women fighters, intellectuals and missionaries on the frontline during the events of 1915.

“In the 19th century, Armenian intellectuals would advocate the liberation of women. However, the Armenian Genocide of 1915 stopped the process. The assaults against women during those events turned women into idols, making them become martyrs that they weren’t pretending to become,” the organizers of the exhibition mentioned.
