On March 29, 2015, the Armenian Holy Apostolic Orthodox Church celebrated Palm Sunday, that is, the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians had declared that day as the blessing of children years ago, as the Diocese of the Armenian Church of Georgia reports to Hayern Aysor.
People had been coming to the Holy Etchmiadzin Armenian Church of Tbilisi since morning. The morning mass at the church was followed by the Divine and eternal Liturgy. In his sermon, leader of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of Georgia, His Grace, Father, Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, who served the Divine and eternal Liturgy, presented in detail the symbol of Palm Sunday (Tsakhkazard) and the message and talked about the last episodes of the life of Jesus Christ on Earth.
Afterwards, His Holiness blessed the children.
More and more people were attending the church throughout the day. The Holy Fathers were blessing the twigs of a palm tree and distributing them to the people since the twigs and branches symbolize special orders and solemnity.
Palm Sunday celebrations were also held at the Armenian churches of Samtskhe-Javakheti, Qvemo Qartli and Batumi.
