Sculptor Levon Tokmajyan to create statue of Monte Melkonian

By the proposal of the RA Ministry of Defense, sculptor Levon Tokmajyan will create a statue of Monte Melkonian. In an interview with Yerkir.am, the sculptor mentioned that a statue of Monte has already been placed in Karabakh and that he now wants to create a statue to be placed in Yerevan.
“I believe children should learn about patriotism and heroism in school so that dirty foreigners don’t come here and discredit Armenians to settle small scores. In Monte I want to see the symbol of heroism in our days because Monte truly left his home and everything behind, traveled overseas and sacrificed his life for the homeland,” Tokmajyan said.a
The sculptor says the statue will be monumental and will be placed in front of the military school named after Monte Melkonian. “I’m excited. I don’t want to rush. I’ll try to not only present Monte the individual, but also the heroism that was felt during the struggle for Artsakh’s liberation,” he said.
