Turkey cancels 100th anniversary celebration dedicated to the Battle of Gallipoli

The Turkish government has stopped preparing for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Gallipoli, as Today’s Zaman reports to “Hayern Aysor”.

According to a Turkish official who wished to remain anonymous, the celebration was cancelled since out of the 100 invitations that Turkey sent, only 5 countries responded at the level of officials that don’t hold high offices. Meanwhile, the heads of states and governments of several countries have already responded to Armenia’s invitation to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Yerevan on April 24th.

However, this information hasn’t been reported by any media outlet and hasn’t been confirmed by government circles. It wasn’t even published in the Turkish version of Zaman. Some experts view the release of this information as another trick in foreign propaganda.
