Famous Turkish writer and recipient of the Nobel Prize Orhan Pamuk avoided speaking about the Armenian Genocide.
As CNNturk reports, the German Die Zeit’s correspondent sat down for an interview with famous Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk who years ago had declared that 1,030,000 Kurds were killed in Turkey in the early 20th century, had gone on to receive the Nobel Prize and had stopped talking about that topic.
According to news.am, Die Zeit’s journalist reminded that a decade ago Orhan Pamuk had declared the massacres of 1 million Armenians and asked what the Turkish writer wanted to say now on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
Pamuk avoided speaking about the Armenian Genocide and said: “I would like to see Turkey and especially the opposition view the issue in the context of freedom of speech.”
