Armenian Genocide Memorial Book to be published in Sydney

The Armenian Genocide Centenary Commemoration Committee (AGCCC) of Australia has announced the publication of a limited edition Memorial Book dedicated to the Centenary of the Armenian Genocide. The Armenia.com.au informs that this unique Australian publication will be released on 24 April 2015, at the National Armenian Genocide Centenary Commemoration Evening, which is to be held at the Sydney Town Hall.

The book will include historical facts, as well as tributes from members of the Armenian-Australian community, who wish to pay respect to their own ancestors that suffered the ordeals of the Armenian Genocide.

The intention of this publication is to create a lasting legacy for the Armenian-Australian community, and to honor the lives of those killed during the Armenian Genocide of 1915-1923.

Individuals are able to secure space for their tribute message – a quarter page for $250, half page for $500, or full page for $1,000 – in this publication. As spaces are strictly limited, all tributes will be treated on a first in basis.

Proceeds from this Memorial Book will be directed towards the National Armenian Genocide Centenary Commemoration Evening on 24th April, 2015.
Earlier it was reported that the Armenian Relief Society of Australia (ARS Australia) Regional Committee has organized a Blood Donor Drive in coordination with the Red Cross, where Sydney Armenians can give blood at several mobile locations in memory of the Armenian Genocide. Armenpress reported, citing the Armenia.com.au that donors are asked to take a picture during or after their donation, and post on Facebook and/or Instagram with the following message: #armenianblood, I gave blood in memory of the Armenian Genocide, #turkeyfailed. 2015 marks the Centenary of the Armenian Genocide, when over 1.5 million Armenians were massacred in an attempt by the Ottoman government to wipe out the race. The Armenian Genocide was the first genocide of the 20th Century. The Armenian-Australian community is commemorating this anniversary with many events and projects. Follow the Calendar at www.armenia.com.au/100 for more information. The ARS Blood Donor Drive is sponsored by His Grace Bishop Haigazoun Najarian and the Armenian Genocide Centenary Commemoration Committee of Australia.
