Armenian Genocide monument opens in Tehran
A monument to the victims of the Armenian Genocide has been erected in the yard of the St. Gregory the Illuminator Catholic Church of Tehran. As “Armenpress” reports, citing Iran’s Alik Daily, the monument wasconsecrated by Patriarch Nerses Petros XIX. In his speech following the consecration, the Patriarch attached importance to the fact that the existence of an Armenian Genocide monument next to the Church will remind the inheritors of Armenian Genocide victims once again about the Armenians’ roots and the values stemming from those roots, as well as the claim to preserve the national identity and obtain the rights that were bequeathed upon Armenians.
The Patriarch also mentioned that Pope Francis will be serving a Divine Liturgy dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide at the Vatican on April 12, 2015.
