World premieres of Mansurian’s and Avanesov’s compositions performed by Kim Kashkashian
On January 18, Grammy Award winner, famous violist Kim Kashkashian performed the works of Tigran Mansurian and Artur Avanesov within the frames of the “Dilijan” chamber music concert series in Los Angeles. The works were two world premieres.
As “Armenpress” reports, the concert included performances by violinists Varty Manouelian and Movses Pogossian, violist Juán Miguel Hernández and cellist Karen Uzunyan.
The concert featured performances of Tigran Mansurian’s “Dancers” duet for the violin and the viola (world premiere), Artur Avanesov’s “Je Ne Regrette Rien” (U.S. premiere), selected parts from the “Feux Follets” series (world premiere), as well as Enesku’s Sonata N 3 for the Violin and Mendelssohn’s String Quintet.
The tenth Dilijan Music Festival is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and has brought together several famous soloists.
The Dilijan Chamber Music Concert Series was created in 2005 by members of the Lark Musical Society with the purpose of presenting classical Armenian music to the world. The concerts are held at Colburn Hall of the Zipper Concert Center of Los Angeles, which is considered the best music concert hall in the city.
