Armenian Embassy in Damascus participated in event at the Higher Institute of Languages at Damascus University

The “Languages and Civilizations” event has kicked off at the Higher Institute of Languages at Damascus University. The event is organized by representatives of the embassies of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Cultural Center in Damascus, reports Aztag Daily’s Arabic section.

The event, which includes video presentations, lectures, conferences and a book fair, will continue until the 18th of next month and will end with a festive event dedicated to World Arabic Language Day.

Syria’s Minister of Education Muhammed Amr El Martini mentioned that the event will help strengthen the cultural ties between Syria and its friendly countries and attached importance to the fact that the event is being held in a period when the region is in a state of war.

Director of the Higher Institute of Languages, Dr. Meysa El Siufi said the event is an attempt to emphasize the teaching of Arame, Armenian and Kurdish along with the teaching of Arabic, shaping the cultural mosaic of Syria.

Representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia, Dr. Nora Arisyan praised the event, mentioning that it will contribute to the strengthening of bonds between the two countries and to the development of academic cooperation. According to Nora Arisyan, the event is important in terms of presenting Armenian language and culture, especially after the opening of the Armenian Language Department at the Higher Institute of Languages at Damascus University. Arisyan also mentioned that the embassy is willing to support such initiatives.
