Armenian Genocide Commemoration ceremony held in Javakhk

On November 26, 2014, an event dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was held at the Holy Cross Church of Akhalkalak in the frames of the events dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, reports the press divan of the Vicariate of the General Prelacy of Javakhk.

The event was organized by Vicar of the General Prelacy of Javakhk, Archimandrite Babgen Salbiyan, in association with the Armenian Sunday school of Akhalkalak, the local church choir and the Rafael-Javakh Educational-Cultural Center of Ninotsminda.

Representatives of the local authorities of Akhalkalak and Ninotsminda, as well as public and cultural figures were present at the event.

The event began with the Lord’s Prayer.

In his speech, the Vicar of Javakhk mentioned: “We are responsible for remembering our ancestors and for the future generation. We must have a generation of strong Armenians. We must have great minds, unbreakable struggle and must be consistent with our actions. Today we have gathered here not to mourn, but to reaffirm our EXISTENCE in the world. Each of us has his share of the struggle that will lead to victory someday.”

Director of the Rafael-Javakh Educational-Cultural Center of Ninotsminda Zhora Snkhchyan also gave a speech at the event.

The speech was followed by the reciting of poems that were interrupted by musical performances from time to time. The children touched the audience with their sentimentality and made the people cry tears of joy.

The event ended with Gevorg Emin’s poem “The Armenian Danced and the Whole World Was Amazed” recited by 8-year old David Harutyunyan, reaffirming once again that Armenians live, dance and sing happily again and again.
