“Art of Duo”’s debut album presentation-concert to be held at “Armenian Home” Cultural Center in Brussels

On November 9 at 19:00, a concert presenting the debut album of “Art of Duo” Project will be held at the “Armenian Home” Cultural Center in Brussels. The project was launched in 2008 by Hrair Karapetyan and Hasmik Manukyan with the aim to present international classical and modern compositions for the violin and the piano.

Hasmik is a pianist, and Hrair is a violinist. The two studied at Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory and have been continuing their studies at the LUCA Art School in Belgium since 2012.

The duet has taken master classes with Eduard Tadevosyan, Susanna Yeritsyan, Suren Zakaryan, Gaiane Hovhannisyan, Alan Vice, Chime Taub, Guy Brownstein and others.

The two have also given concerts in Armenia, Russia, Belgium, France, England, Austria, Germany, Holland and Italy within the frames of the project.

The first album including Edward Grieg’s Sonata N 3 and Arno Babajanyan’s sonatas for the violin and the piano will be presented to Belgian music lovers on November 9.

“We created the “Art of Duo” project when we were in our second year of studies at Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. We started giving concerts in Armenia. Over time, we received invitations to participate in different music festivals and gave more and more concerts as a duet,” Hrair said in an interview with “Hayern Aysor”.

“The title of the album is the name of the project. Both sonatas contain elements of Armenian national music. One of the goals is to make Babajanyan’s sonata popular since there aren’t many recorded versions of it. The album is dedicated to the memory of my father, Hayk Karapetyan, who was the former editor-in-chief of “Hayern Aysor”,” Hrayr mentioned.

“Art of Duo” collaborates with European and Armenian organizations and student associations. “The “Hayasa” Armenian Student Association of Belgium is providing us with great assistance in organizing the presentation of the album to be held on November 9,” Hrayr added.
