Serzh Sargsyan: “I truly became convinced that I am in one of the world’s most ancient countries”

President Serzh Sargsyan, who is on an official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, met today with President of the Senate Abdel Rauf al-Ravabeh and Speaker of the House of Representatives Atef Yusef Salah al-Tarauna, reports the press service of the RA President.

The sides attached importance to the role of the Armenian-Jordanian inter-parliamentary relations in the strengthening of cooperation and in the formation of the broad agenda for cooperation. The interlocutors regretted to see that those relations between the legislative bodies aren’t at the desired level yet. The official visit of Armenia’s President was considered a good opportunity to discuss the opportunities and perspectives for development of cooperation between the parliaments. On behalf of Armenia, President Serzh Sargsyan expressed willingness to take action to strengthen inter-parliamentary relations and attached importance to the reciprocal visits of parliamentary delegations of different levels and the creation of inter-parliamentary friendship groups.

In Amman Serzh Sargsyan also visited the National Museum of Jordan where he was introduced to the samples representing the country’s centuries-old history and left a note in the book for honorable guests after the tour. “I truly became convinced that I am in one of the world’s most ancient countries. The history of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which is presented in this glorious museum, is brilliant evidence of that. In this wonderful structure, with high taste and generosity, your country presents itself with honor and glory, with its marvelous culture and centuries-old history. The museum is truly full of “silent” samples of tolerance and the dialogue between different kinds of civilizations. I thank the authorities and people of Jordan for providing me with the opportunity to visit this museum,” President Serzh Sargsyan wrote.
