Serge Avedikian’s “The Last Round in Istanbul” to reflect on consequences of Armenian Genocide
French-Armenian film and theatre actor, director, writer and producer, winner of Cannes Festival prize Serge Avedikian recently is zealously working over full-length animation movie titled “The Last Round in Istanbul”. This time the filmmaker came to Armenia to attend the 6th ReAnimania International Animation Film Festival of Yerevan. Within the framework of the festival, Serge Avedikian introduced his new animation film to the public. The filmmaker, who is always loved and expected in Armenia, confessed that he is very glad to pay a visit to Yerevan.
In a conversation with “Armenpress” Serge Avedikian underscored: “I have
started working over “The Last Round in Istanbul” 10 years ago. It reflects upon
the consequences of the Armenian Genocide and it’s very difficult to approach
them. The heroes of my movie are Armenians – orphan brother and sister. The
sister sells her body; the brother is a boxer. The story begins, when a Turkish
boxer comes to the town and the Armenian hero called Armen must struggle with
him.”
